Survivor Recollections: Fred Terna, Art & Harmony
A new series of online conversations presented by The Defiant Requiem Foundation
Fred Terna, Terezín Survivor
Murry Sidlin, Host
The second installment of our new online series, Survivor Recollections, will feature a one-on-one discussion between Foundation President and Artistic Director Murry Sidlin and Terezín Survivor Fred Terna, live from his painting studio in Brooklyn, New York. A survivor of Terezín and three other camps, Fred will speak with Murry about the dual influences of art and music on Fred’s life. From learning to sing folk songs with the famous Czech bass-baritone Karel Berman while on work details, to exploring how memories of the Shoah can be found in all of his artwork, Fred’s extraordinary memory and remarkable energy make this a conversation that is not to be missed. As always, because music is central to The Defiant Requiem Foundation’s mission, the event will include music of Robert Dauber and Martin Roman – art that was created within the walls of Terezín.
