Who conducts performances of Defiant Requiem?
Performances of Defiant Requiem are conducted by the concert’s creator, Maestro Murry Sidlin.

How long is a performance of Defiant Requiem?
A performance of Defiant Requiem lasts approximately 1 hour 55 minutes and does not have an intermission.

What performers are needed for a performance of Defiant Requiem?
Defiant Requiem uses the same size orchestra and chorus, and the same four soloists as Verdi’s Requiem. It also includes piano and two actors, which are not in the original score.

Do you have artists with whom you regularly work?
The Defiant Requiem Foundation maintains relationships with a number of artists and managers who are very familiar with Defiant Requiem and who understand our mission.

How are performances arranged?
Performances of Defiant Requiem are arranged by agreement with The Defiant Requiem Foundation a 501(c)(3) organization based in Washington, DC, for a performance fee. The fee includes all associated costs for personnel, staffing, and support provided by the Foundation, including Maestro Sidlin.

What kind of support is provided by the Foundation?
The Foundation provides the script, concert roll-in video, orchestra parts, and cue sheets for performances of Defiant Requiem, along with original artwork, photos, approved marketing/PR copy, program notes and translations, and access to our publicity agent. The Foundation also provides artistic, technical, and logistical support via General Manager, Sean Kehoe, who acts as Technical Director and Production Stage Manager for performances.

Can colleges and universities perform Defiant Requiem?
Yes! The Foundation encourages this and has established The University Residency Project to support these performances. The program provides grants to help cover the direct costs of a performance. For a copy of The University Residency Project brochure, please click here.

How much does a performance of Defiant Requiem cost?
The budget for performances of Defiant Requiem varies widely depending on location and what resources are already available to the presenter. A good rule of thumb is to start by considering what a performance of the Verdi Requiem costs in your area – orchestra, chorus, soloists, hall, stage labor, marketing, etc. The performance fee, actors, and audio and video technical requirements are additional expenses. We will be happy to work with you and your staff to develop a budget for your unique situation.
