Message from the president and founder, Murry Sidlin
Dear Friends of The Defiant Requiem Foundation,
As we near the end of 2014, I would like to thank all of you for the support you have provided to The Defiant Requiem Foundation over the past year. Whether you attended a film screening or concert, came to one of the Schächter Institute events this past summer, made a financial donation, served on our Board of Directors or helped us promote our educational projects, we are grateful for your help. We recognize that you have many options on how to spend your time and money.
Along with all other non-profits organizations, our success depends upon the generosity of people like you, and we hope you will make a year-end gift to The Defiant Requiem Foundation. When you support The Defiant Requiem Foundation, this is what you help make possible:
- The development of a new commemorative concert-drama: Hours of Freedom: The Terezín Composer.
- Concert performances of Defiant Requiem: Verdi at Terezín in the U.S. and abroad with ticket subsidies for survivors.
- Educational programs in schools that illuminate the Terezín Legacy, which bring Holocaust education to high school and college students.
- The Rafael Schächter Institute for Arts and Humanities in the Czech Republic and U.S.
- Film screenings in synagogues, libraries, schools and small communities.
- The development of a feature film of Defiant Requiem with potential theatrical release.
Your financial support allows us to continue to bring the message of Defiant Requiem to thousands of people worldwide through our film, concert and educational projects. What could be more important in today’s difficult world than to illuminate the story of Defiant Requiem to demonstrate the power of courage, hope and non-violent defiance? In the face of the barbaric acts in the Middle East and the rise of Anti-Semitism in Europe, the story of Rafael Schächter and Defiant Requiem illuminates how the best of mankind can confront and conquer the worst of mankind.
Please consider a year-end donation to The Defiant Requiem Foundation. We are a tax-exempt 501(c)(3) non-profit, so your donation is tax-deductible. We operate lean and mean with a small dedicated staff that is committed to the cause — we work diligently to use every penny wisely.
Many thanks for your help. You may make a gift online with your credit card by clicking on the “Donate Now” button below. Or, you may send a check made payable to The Defiant Requiem Foundation | P.O. Box 6242 | Washington, DC 20015.
With warm regards for a happy and healthy holiday season!
