Defiant Requiem Film Screenings Continue
The documentary film Defiant Requiem continues to be screened across the U.S. in a variety of locations, including high schools, colleges and universities, and conferences. Foundation Board Member Patti Kenner coordinated a screening of the film trailer at the 17th Annual Werner Feig Lecture at The Nightingale-Bamford School in New York City where Murry Sidlin and Terezín survivor Fred Terna spoke to parents and students. A parent at the Nightingale School was so impressed with the presentation that she invited Murry and Fred to come to St. Francis College in Brooklyn for a similar screening and discussion as part of its annual Holocaust Commemoration events. In early May, during The Rafael Schächter Institute in New York City, the film was screened to great acclaim at the Czech Center for 200 guests. The film was also shown at an educational conference in Los Angeles for teachers of the Holocaust at the Museum of Tolerance organized by Journeys in Film. Other screenings have included the prestigious SxSW education conference in Austin, Texas; The Beartooth Theatre Pub/Art House in Anchorage, Alaska; and at the Yiddish Book Center in Amherst, Massachusetts.
